1. In terms of Technological Development:
High frequency technology is more mature than UHF technology. From the initial commercialization in 1995 to today's extensive and mature practical application, high-frequency technology has achieved quite good results. Compared with RFID tags in other frequency bands, high-frequency tags have the largest production volume and the highest ROI of manufacturers. Through continuous improvement and improvement, the learning curve model for the production of high-frequency tags, data protocol sharing and the construction of the foundation of RFID applications has also been established. UHF technology has just entered the stage of large-scale application, and its technical level has not yet reached a mature level.
2. In terms of signal interference:
Both HF and UHF RFID systems rely heavily on the communication environment between dry readers and tags. However, the near-field induction compliance of high-frequency technology reduces the potential wireless interference, making high-frequency technology highly "immune" to environmental noise and electromagnetic interference (EM). While UHF adopts the principle of electromagnetic emission, so it is more vulnerable to electromagnetic interference. At the same time, metal will reflect the signal, while water can absorb the signal. These factors will interfere with the normal function of the label. Although some UHF tags (such as Gen2) after technical improvement have excellent performance in preventing interference from metals and liquids, UHF is still slightly inferior to high-frequency tags, and other methods need to be used to make up for it.
3. From the perspective of global norms and standards:
Iso/iec, 15693 standard was formulated by the international organization for Standardization / International Electrotechnical Commission in 1999 to regulate the implementation of high frequency radio frequency identification technology. The high frequency band of 13.56MHz has become an effective international scientific and medical (ISM) band in the world. After Japan agreed to use a consistent high-frequency frequency in December 2002, its power level has also been unified around the world. UHF standards are not so unified, and the frequencies used in different countries are also different. The UHF designated by the European Union is 865~868mhz, the United States is 902~928mhz, and India is
865~867mhz, 920~926mhz in Australia and 952~954mhz in Japan. However, China and other countries have not given UHF a suitable frequency band range and are in the state of missing standards. The direct consequence of the disunity of UHF frequency band is to disconnect the supply chain of enterprises trying to establish a seamless global supply chain.
4. From the perspective of global RFID power requirements:
The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) en300-220 specification has two main provisions that are not conducive to UHF. One is to turn off the limitation of dry power, which stipulates that the effective radiation power is 500 MW; The second is to turn off the limitation of bandwidth. As a result, the reader and writer cannot be frequency hopped, which also limits the speed of anti-collision arbitration of tags. The European code limits the signal modulation between UHF tags and readers, resulting in inconsistencies between American and European systems.
Reid tags have received a lot of praise from users in practical applications. Although the price is relatively high, the super hi frequency tag technology will improve the production efficiency and management of Mingyi's unique Youdian enterprise in the automatic classification of goods, safety and other aspects.
